The term Shot Shaping refers to a type of Ball Flight that is deliberately played to suit a playing situation you may find yourself in, for example it could be playing a Draw, Fade, High or Low Ball Flight. These types of flights are commonly know as Shot Shapes that are typically played differently to your normally flighted Shot. Shot Shaping will also effect the balls first bounce when it pitches therefore having the ability to manoeuvre the Ball in Flight and control the Balls Bounce can help to widen the margin of error in the shot thus helping to reduce any risk in the shot.
Shot Shaping also helps to mentally immerse you into the shot through visualisation. This is done by mentally playing the shot back from where you intend it to come to rest, back through the balls first bounce, through it's flight and all the way back to how the ball needs to be struck with the club being used. All this helps to create a mental picture enabling you to see the shot before it is played that helps to block out unwanted distractions by narrowing focus in the Shot.
